How to Clean an Ashtray?

Dirty Ashtray

After purchasing The Perfect Ashtray, we figure you’d like to keep it clean. Cleaning ashtrays can be a dirty task and become a real nuisance. The ashes stick to the ashtray walls and cake up becoming almost like some sort of ash concrete. Even though enough elbow grease and hard work will eventually get the ash paste out, nobody wants to spend that much effort working on such a small job. So here is one simple method that will keep your ashtray looking as perfect as the day you bought it.

First, take all your ash trays in your house and wash them thoroughly by hand with regular dish washing liquid, then let them dry very well. After the ash tray has dried very well, cover the entire surface of the ash trays with furniture polish. Once you have sprayed them thoroughly with furniture polish. Next, blot your ashtray lightly with a paper towel but don't dry them completely. The blotting is just to evenly distribute the polish while soaking up any excess in areas. You want to allow the furniture polish to dry on its own. This leaves a thin coating of furniture polish on the ashtray. Going forward, this will stop the burns and the ash build-up comes off with one wipe over with a paper towel. Which means no more scrubbing and sweat over a measly ashtray. Ashtray Cleaning Materials

If you are having a hard time getting the ashes out before you spray the ashtray with furniture polish, try using something a little bit different than your normal cloth to clean it. A couple solid alternatives are clean paint brushes or a firm toothbrush. Both of these brushes will help the dried ashes come right out. If your ash has indeed turned into a black concrete material, you might need to step it up to some steel wool, or just buy a new ashtray.

This simple method can be done within an hour yet will make your perfect ashtray last a lifetime.
